Blog – Flapless Landings 10/02/2024
Today was another one of those challenging days as the weather was not playing nice with a 12kt crosswind and some gnarly thermals in the circuit.
After doing run ups, I lined up and rolled down 28 for a set of flapless circuits.
It was hard going today it showed with me not hitting the numbers or heights and I was having an absolute mare. My FI was patient and pointed out that the conditions were challenging.
After some frustrating go-arounds, I was soon correcting these errors early and it was pleasing to see that my FI started to praise my flying. He threw in some simulated engine failures just to confirm that I was safe in these conditions and that I had the procedure sorted.
After some more touch and goes, it was time to land and taxi back to the aero club. I was a little annoyed at myself, but my FI was satisfied and asked if I was happy to do a few circuits solo.
I was happy with the conditions being just within my limits, and we had sufficient fuel in the tanks so it was on.
Until next time…..
