Blog – Circuits 10/06/2023

Today was one of those pure “out of the box”, “Everything was fizzing”, beautiful days when it just all goes completely to plan.

The weather was perfect with a beautiful crisp morning and zero wind for my circuits.

After completing my pre-flight, we commenced with starting the engine which didn’t want to play ball. We suspected ice in the carb and after a bit of adjustment and cursing the engine started to run smooth.

After doing run ups I lined up on 06 and rolled down 06 for a fantastic set of circuits.

I haven’t been flying for a wee while but today it just all clicked and I was flying well within PPL standards. I was hitting all the numbers and heights and I was having an absolute ball. My FI was quiet and just coming along for the ride. That is a great measure to know you are doing it right.

There is something truly satisfying when the aircraft and your pilotage are in synch. Everything just flows and you are well ahead of the game. You relax and just enjoy the flight so much more. I was buzzing!

After 4 almost perfect touch and goes it was time to land and taxi back to the aero club.

My FI was very impressed as was I. Today was one of those days when you can do no wrong and your confidence is in the stratosphere. I was in heaven.

After discussions with my FI I booked a session for the next day with my CFI to prove it wasn’t a fluke and to perhaps get to solo. Lets see tomorrow. Fingers crossed…

Happy days!
