Circuits
Well mother nature can be fickle in New Zealand during spring but she put on a pearler today with almost no cloud and just slight nor’wester for a great day to fly.
It’s been ages since my last flight due to family and work so I was quite rusty.
Circuits was the plan today as I needed to get more consistent. Well consistency happened but not quite in the way I wanted.
I have been concentrating on rudder control and staying straight on the runway which I managed to achieve fairly well however my engine management was rubbish and I over revved it more than once. As we all know there is so much going on during circuits. That is why we keep doing them as it covers off everything we have learned.
Today it kind of broke me as I got more frustrated with myself for basic stuff like not keeping the climb out at 70 knots, being too high or not in a stable approach.
Just goes to show…. some days you’re hot… some days you’re not.
Still, I will take the positives where they showed themselves and try and get better at the stuff I am struggling with. As pilots we all strive for that perfect consistent circuit. I have done some good one’s but today was “rough” to say the least. I won’t beat myself up though as I did do some things rather well such as consistent round out, landing, and then power on without going all over the place and scaring the bejeebers out of my instructor and myself.
Blue skies and fair weather until next time….
