Blog – Circuits With CFI 19/08/2023
Today I decided to have another crack at consistency in the circuit.
The weather was overcast but calm with a gentle zephyr of a wind straight down the runway. After doing my ground checks, I opened the throttle and commenced my circuits.
The first circuit I was fine so I took a deep breath and said to myself: just do that again. Well blow me down if I didn’t do the exact same circuit! Ok 2 down. My third I was a little low on base to final, but I gave it a squirt of power to get myself back on glideslope and landed ok again. OMG 3 done!
On the climb out this time my CFI added in a simulated engine failure. I lowered the nose, pulled the throttle to full idle and made for a paddock at my 2 O’clock. All good, we ended the simulation and continued with the circuit.
My CFI called that this will be a full stop. I again was slightly low but using power I caught it early and landed without any issues. During taxiing my CFI said “Ok how would you like to do one on your own?” Oh boy would I!
We shut down the plane so my CFI could exit safely and I was briefed to do a circuit “just like you have been doing”
Once my CFI was out of the aircraft and a save distance away I started up the Tecnam.
I was finally on my solo for this type….
Aircraft: ZK-DOY (Tecnam P2002 Sierra)
Total Time: 0.8
Landings: 4
Go-arounds: 0
Visual Approaches: 4
Until next time….
