Blog – Circuits With CFI 25/06/2023
After the great flying previously, I was booked in with the CFI to repeat the tasks and impress him enough to solo on type.
The morning was cold and gloomy and as I went thru my pre-filght checks. I kept looking at th weather hoping that the clouds would clear. After about 20mins the skies cleared enough and we were taxiing out for todays mission.
I performed my circuits fairly well however I was a bit high on one so I went around which impressed my CFI.
Soon the weather started throwing squalls our way and I expereinced VMC into IMC. I attempted to fly as acurately as possible without any visual queues but after we emerged from the squall I was way out from the airfield but at least running parralel to it.
It just goes to show how loosing reference as a VFR pilot things can go very wrong, very fast.
After 5 circuits we landed but due to the weather deciding to pack up and me not showing consistannt flying I had to abort any thoughts of solo for today.
Its frustrating to be so close to going soloing on type however that’s the way it goes and we need to remember safety is always the priority.
I cant wait till I can take up this awesome little plane on my own.
Happy days
