Blog – Circuits With CFI 29/07/2023
Well this is getting rather repetitive….
First circuit all good; on the second I was about 50ft when all hell cut loose…
All of a sudden I had one heck of a lifting force on my starboard wing which induced both a violent pitch and yaw!
I was stunned, but after 3-5 second I was about to slam the throttle and go- around ; but my CCFI beat me to it and took control. Once we were back in the climb to commence another circuit I tried to work out what happened. I assume it was an up-draught but today was a cool winter’s morning so I was not convinced. Sufficed to say whilst I was desperately trying to forget that surprise and get back on task I was long on some legs, short on others, over and shot my turns onto final. My head was just not inn the game and I was self doubting everything.
Once we completed the sortie, my CFI confirmed the worst: “No solo today. I’m looking for 4-5 nice neat consistent circuits.
Ah that old chestnut: Consistency!
I’m gutted to say the least. I really thought I had it dialled in mentally today .
Bugger!
