Blog – PPL Exercises 02/02/2025

As it had been several weeks since my last flight, we planned on working on general handling and targeting the some of the problem areas of my skillset.

The weather was overcast at 2500ft but smooth so that made easier.

After running through our pre-flight, taxi, run-ups, and take-off we flew out to the training area and ran thru the following:

  • Stall – Clean Configuration
  • Standard and Steep Turns
  • Force Landing Without Power
  • Short Field Landing

I was on fire today. I felt at one with the aircraft and my handling was pretty damn good.

I did cram in a little on my forced landing but all in all good considering the gap between flights. I was stoked.

Short field landings are getting accurate too, how ever I’m still tending to be high on base and final. (Note to self: Let the nose drop in the descending turn laddie!). Even with the height issue I still did very smooth landings albeit a bit long.

Yay. I’m also getting sharper with short field landings using power to bring the aircraft onto the touchdown point.

Next lesson we will most likely rinse and repeat, and add in a few more items on the PPL flight test list, working towards consistency and accuracy.

Progressing ever closer to the flight test.

Until next time…
