Blog – Solo Glide Approaches 29/06/2024
Today was all about spacing for the glide approach.
My FI sat in on the first two glide approaches which I did fairly well at. He then got out of the aircraft and left me to do some more on my own.
The Tecnam can really perform with only one person in it and it was soon apparent that it was not going to descend any time soon. After the first landing I put that info to goo use and tried again; keeping my wingtip on the aim point and running thru the mantra of, lookout, attitude, instruments.
I did a further seven approaches, varying the spot where I closed off the throttle for the glide.
I managed to land every one, even though some had me coming in rather high.
This was a great session and brought home all the learning and placement of the aircraft for a good glide approach.
Next lesson we plan on putting FLWOP finally to bed and to work on Instrument procedures such as compass turns and partial panel.
Bring it on!
Until next time…..
